ESCWA's Al-Mashat Hails Egypt as Strategic Partner on 23 July Revolution Anniv.

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Executive Secretary Rania Al-Mashat congratulated Egypt's leadership, government and people on the 74th anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, reaffirming the country's strategic partnership with the U.N. regional body in advancing sustainable development and institutional reform.

In a statement on Thursday, Al-Mashat wished Egypt continued progress, prosperity, security and stability, describing the country as a key regional partner in implementing development initiatives that strengthen regional cooperation and support national institutions.

She said the partnership between ESCWA and Egypt has expanded in recent years through a broad range of technical cooperation programmes aimed at enhancing institutional capacities and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiatives have included the development of Egypt's Social Expenditure Observatory in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, preparation of the State of Development in Egypt report, and the creation of development financing tools and trade policy simulation models.

The two sides have also worked together to strengthen social protection systems, support policies for persons with disabilities, enhance national statistical capacities, and cooperate on climate change, science, technology and innovation, according to the statement.

Al-Mashat said the partnership also includes specialized capacity-building programmes for Egyptian government officials through ESCWA's "Jusour" initiative, which provides training opportunities to improve public administration and strengthen the skills of civil servants.

She reaffirmed ESCWA's commitment to deepening cooperation with Egypt in support of the country's national development priorities and broader efforts to promote sustainable development and prosperity across the Arab region.
