Heavy fighting intensified in southern Lebanon as Israeli forces carried out sustained airstrikes and expanded ground operations, while Hezbollah reported dozens of attacks targeting advancing troops and Israeli territory.
According to regional media reports, Israeli forces launched intensive bombardments across multiple areas in southern Lebanon over the past several hours, coinciding with continued ground clashes along multiple axes near the border.
Fighting has been particularly fierce in frontline towns including Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, and Labbouneh in the western sector, as well as areas such as Beit Lif and Qawzah in the central sector of the Bint Jbeil district. Israeli troops are reportedly attempting to push deeper on several fronts, in what appears to be a bid to widen the scope of their ground offensive.
Hezbollah said it carried out more than 80 operations on Thursday alone, most of them aimed at disrupting Israeli ground advances. The group indicated that over 70 of these attacks specifically targeted advancing Israeli troops, underscoring its focus on slowing or halting troop movements.
The group added that it continued its operations into Friday, launching more than 50 additional attacks since the morning, most of them directed at Israeli ground forces, alongside rocket and drone strikes targeting Israeli settlements.
Air raid sirens were reported in several areas inside Israel, including Beersheba and the Negev, following incoming rocket fire from southern Lebanon, according to Israeli authorities.
While Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs have reportedly decreased, bombardment has intensified along border towns, suggesting a tactical shift toward weakening Hezbollah’s frontline capabilities and preventing it from consolidating defensive positions.
The evolving situation indicates that ground operations are becoming the central focus of the conflict at this stage, raising concerns of a broader and more sustained escalation. There have been no clear signs of an imminent de-escalation, with both sides continuing to exchange fire and expand the scope of engagement.
