Algerian outfit ES Setif have appointed ex-Egypt manager Hossam El-Badry as their new head coach, the club announced on Wednesday.

ES Setif were the surprise package of last season’s CAF Champions League after reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

However, they crashed out of the tournament after falling to a comprehensive 6-2 defeat on aggregate against Cairo giants Al Ahly.

Despite a successful run in Africa, ES Setif struggled domestically as they finished seventh in the league table, failing to qualify for continental competitions.

As a result, Serbian manager Darko Novic left his role as ES Setif head coach with rumours emerging about the potential appointment of former Al Ahly and Egypt national team manager Hossam El-Badry.

On Wednesday, the club confirmed that Hossam El-Badry landed in Algeria and will sign a contract to assume the role of head coach for the upcoming season.
