The Turkish Presidency has officially announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will arrive in Cairo this Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The high-profile visit, made at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, marks a significant milestone in the deepening diplomatic and economic partnership between the two regional heavyweights.
Strategic Cooperation Council to Meet in Cairo The centerpiece of the visit will be the second meeting of the Türkiye-Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which will be co-chaired by the two presidents. This institutionalized dialogue framework is designed to solidify long-term cooperation across a range of vital sectors, including defense, energy, and maritime security.
According to a statement from Burhanettin Duran, the Communications Director of the Turkish Presidency, the leaders are expected to hold extensive discussions on regional and international developments. A primary focus will be the ongoing situation in Palestine, with both nations seeking to coordinate efforts for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and regional de-escalation.
Expanding Economic Horizons Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of the visit. President Erdoğan is scheduled to attend the Türkiye-Egypt Business Forum, a gathering of prominent business leaders from both nations aimed at boosting bilateral trade volumes. Current reports suggest that both countries are working toward a trade target of $15 billion, leveraging Egypt’s role as a gateway to African markets and Turkey’s industrial expertise.
This visit to Cairo follows a stop in Saudi Arabia, highlighting a broader Turkish diplomatic "blitz" to strengthen ties with key Arab partners as the region faces evolving security challenges.
