The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched a new humanitarian convoy carrying more than 78,000 food baskets and winter supplies to the Gaza Strip as part of ongoing Egyptian efforts to support Palestinians amid the continuing crisis.

The convoy, operating under the initiative “Zad Al-Ezza from Egypt to Gaza,” entered through the Egyptian side of the Rafah Border Crossing, which has served as a key route for humanitarian assistance into the enclave.

The latest convoy includes more than 78,000 food baskets in addition to large quantities of winter supplies and other essential relief materials intended to support civilians in Gaza.

Egyptian authorities have been facilitating the movement of aid trucks waiting on the Egyptian side of the crossing to allow the largest possible amount of humanitarian assistance to enter the territory on a daily basis.

However, the entry of aid has faced obstacles, including measures by Israeli forces that have reduced the operating hours of border crossings and rejected some shipments after inspection at the Kerem Shalom Crossing.

The transfer of wounded Palestinians to Egyptian hospitals has also been suspended following a decision by Israeli authorities, despite Egypt’s readiness to receive and treat them.

Egypt has continued to send humanitarian aid convoys through Rafah since the start of the war, positioning the crossing as a crucial lifeline for relief supplies destined for Gaza’s population.
