The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has deployed a mobile humanitarian kitchen to prepare hot meals for Palestinians arriving from the Gaza Strip, as part of its expanded relief efforts to support the wounded and displaced amid the ongoing crisis.
Dr. Amal Emam, Executive Director of the ERC, said the organization is playing a supportive and complementary role to Egypt’s official efforts in receiving injured and wounded Palestinians crossing into the country for treatment.
Emam said the Red Crescent has raised its readiness to the highest level to deliver a comprehensive package of humanitarian services in the vicinity of the Rafah land crossing.
She explained that Red Crescent teams are operating through service centers located in both arrival and departure halls, providing wheelchairs, patient escort services for the elderly and injured, and assistance in restoring family links and facilitating communication. The services also include the provision of hot meals through a mobile humanitarian kitchen, as well as meeting urgent needs such as warm clothing, blankets, and personal care supplies.
Emam noted that the Egyptian Red Crescent’s role extends to hospitals, where its teams offer psychological support services to injured patients and children, ensuring continuity of care from the moment of arrival through hospital discharge.
She also highlighted the distribution of a symbolic “return bag” to Palestinians who complete their treatment in Egypt. The kit contains essential items, including blankets, heavy covers, personal hygiene products, and dry food supplies, conveying a humanitarian message of solidarity and wishing patients a safe return to their homeland.
ERC has intensified its humanitarian response in coordination with national authorities to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians affected by the conflict, reinforcing Egypt’s ongoing support for the people of Gaza.
