Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad emphasized the importance of prioritizing the financing of climate issues at the upcoming 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) to ensure effective decision-making and a unified global goal.
Fouad's remarks was made during her involvement in a high-level session of an open dialogue aimed at gathering ministers' perspectives on the topics to be discussed at COP29.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 15th Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Berlin, Germany, where German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was also present.
During his participation, Fouad specifically addressed the challenges faced by developing countries in meeting their climate change commitments and reducing carbon emissions, underscoring the difficulties in securing funding for climate resilience and the lack of grants allocated for this purpose.
