Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Egypt’s Minister of Environment, confirmed that Egypt has success stories in handling climate change.
The minister added that Cairo seeks to present these stories to the world during its presidency of the upcoming COP27 climate conference.
She affirmed that Egypt plans to implement many national projects in the fields of mitigating or adapting to the effects of climate change.
The minister indicated that the cost of mitigation programs is about $211 billion, and the cost of adaptation programs is about $113 billion, with a total of $324 billion.
She explained that the list of mitigation projects includes the establishment of the Benban complex in the Aswan Governorate for solar energy, as the largest complex for generating clean electricity in the Middle East, energy efficiency projects, wind energy projects, and sustainable transportation such as the Monorail project and the metro network.
