Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, confirmed that developing countries were not the cause of climate change but were greatly affected by that phenomenon.

She explained that Egypt’s emissions represent about 0.6%, and the emissions of the African continent do not exceed 4% of global greenhouse gases.

The minister stressed that the obligations placed on it are the responsibility of developing countries, different from developed countries.

Developing countries must implement plans to reduce emissions and adapt to the negative effects of climate change.

She explained that there is a close link between climate change and food and water security, as some sectors and activities that cause climate change, such as industrial activities, means of transportation, and self-ignition of waste, lead to melting ice, rising sea levels, drowning many communities and affecting many agricultural crops.
