A new session held by the five permanent and temporary members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council failed again to adopt a resolution regarding the Israeli aggression on civilians in the Gaza Strip and Al-Quds (known in Israeli sources as Jerusalem).

But the UN officials warn that the current confrontations between the Palestinians and Israeli may drift into a whole war in the Middle East if escalation doesn't stop at once.

Hadi Amr, assistant of US Secretary of State is going to land in Tel Aviv, the capital city of Israel, at the start of a tour in the region, to prevent dangerous events to drift to the worst.

The UN Security Council held the second session within 48 hours in New York at the request of China, Tunisia, and Norway to take a stance towards the recent developments in Palestine.

It is worth mentioning the first session held last Monday also failed to adopt a resolution because the United States of America (USA) refused to approve the text of the resolution adopted by the three countries.

The US diplomats still prefer to wait for the results of the ongoing efforts to reduce the escalation as Washington has just sent a delegation to the region.

On the other hand, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh discussed yesterday, Wednesday, with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

During a phone call, Shtayyeh briefed Raab on the latest developments in light of the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, in addition to the escalation of the situation in the West Bank, especially in the city of Jerusalem, where residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are subjected to forced displacement.

Shtayyeh stressed the importance of serious international pressure on Israel to stop its military escalation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli airstrikes murdered dozens of martyrs and hundreds of wounded, and displacement of hundreds of families from their homes.
