Emam, Ghaly Take Oath before Parl’t

Zamalek's former Captain Hazem Emam, and Al Ahly's former Legend Hossam Ghaly took the constitutional oath before Parliament.

The opening procedural session of the new House of Representatives (HoR) kicked off, a short while ago, headed by MP Farida al Shobashi, the oldest MP in the new parliament.

Emam and Ghaly were among 28 people President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appointed at the House of Representative.

The newly-elected members of parliament (MPs) have been taken the constitutional oath.

It is worth mentioning that MP Hanafi Gebaly became on Tuesday the speaker of the House of Representatives in its second legislative term 2021/2026 following an elections, for which four candidates were running.

Gebaly gained 508 votes out of 576 eligible votes, while the ineligible votes were 11.

Gebaly was competing with MP Mohamed Salah Abu Homaila who gained 57 votes, MP Ahmed Abdel Hakim Youssef (2 votes), and MP Mohamed Madina (9 votes).

Today, the oldest MP Farida Choubachi, who headed the inaugural session, was the first to vote followed by the youngest MPs; Fatma Selim and Abanob Ezzat.
