Egypt is currently experiencing a heatwave that is sweeping all parts of the country.

Temperatures in Cairo are expected to rise above 36 degrees this week and exceed 40 degrees in the south of the country.

As the wave comes during the spring, a question is pressing many Egyptians: Should they begin wearing summer clothes, and was it possible for temperatures to change after the wave fades away, especially since the spring is known for its sharp and rapid weather fluctuations.

Manar Ghanem, a member of the Media Centre of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), warned those who are planning to wear fewer layers of clothing not to do it excessively, especially since there is a 15-degree difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures.

She added cold weather is set to prevail across the country, at night.

"Talking about wearing summer clothes is too soon as we are in the month of sharp and rapid weather fluctuations, and we usually wear summer clothes after Sham Ennessim day on April 25," Ghanem noted.
