European Medicines Agency (EMA), the main EU’s medicines regulator, asserted on Thursday that AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective.
The agency had to held an urgent meeting for reviewing the safety of the vaccine after 13 EU states halted using it amid blood clotting concerns.
The report indicated that the jab was “not associated” with any blood clots risks.
However, the agency left the decision of using the vaccine to the EU states inpidually.
Shortly after the report, several states teased making their minds regarding using the vaccine such as France, and Sweden.
Moreover, World Health Organization (WHO) urged the countries to re-use the jabs to save their people, especially in the light of a third wave of the pandemic.
One of EMA's expert committee on medicine safety underscored: "The vaccine is not associated with an increase in the overall risk of... blood clots".
However, she added But the EMA, she added: "A small number of cases of rare and unusual but very serious clotting disorders".
