Elysee: Sisi, Macron Discussed Situation in Gaza

The Elysee announced on Monday, that French President Emmanuel Macron held talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, over the phone last Saturday.

In a statement, the Elysee added that Macron and Sisi discussed the situation in Gaza and the importance of reaching a ceasefire in the besieged Strip.

Egypt's Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said that the call dealt with the ongoing efforts aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of detainees, and the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Moreover, both presidents reviewed the latest developments in this regard, stressing the need for the concerned parties to cooperate to ensure progress that leads to bloodshed.

They also discussed the current human suffering in the Gaza Strip, in addition to advancing the path of the two-state solution as well as the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, affirming that it is the only path capable of achieving real security and sustainable stability in the region.

In addition, President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s categorical position of rejecting the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt in any way or form.
