On Thursday, Warner Bros. announced that the untitled Elvis Presley biopic, currently in production in Australia, will debut in theaters on June 3, 2022, instead of November 5, 2021.

The biopic had been set to open on the big screen and HBO Max, however, the change means that the production may get a traditional theatrical run, instead of being one of the 2021 Warner Bros. titles scheduled to be released in cinemas and on HBO Max at the same time.

The movie features Austin Butler as Presley, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Gladys Presley, the singer's mother, and Tom Hanks starring as Col. Tom Parker, the manager who controlled every aspect of Presley's life.

The plot focuses on Presley's rise to stardom, and particularly on his relationship with Parker.

Baz Luhrmann wrote the script with Craig Pearce, with whom he also wrote "The Great Gatsby" and "Moulin Rouge". The movie will be produced by Baz Luhrmann and his wife, Catherine Martin.

The production of the untitled biopic was suspended last summer after Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus.
