Elon Musk, the American entrepreneur and owner of the social media platform "X," discussed the possibility of banning the platform in Europe after the European Commission requested the removal of pro-Palestinian content due to the new Digital Services Law.
Business Insider magazine reported, citing an informed source within the company, that Musk feels increasingly frustrated with the need to comply with the Digital Services Law.
He discussed the possibility of either making the app simply unavailable in the region or preventing users in the European Union from accessing it, according to the magazine.
The magazine noted that although Musk met at least twice" in 2023 with European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton to discuss what "X" should do to comply with the Digital Services Law, the entrepreneur "has lost his patience.
Earlier, Politico reported that the European Union had initiated an investigation into the social networking site "X" over allegations that it disseminated misleading information about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The newspaper also pointed out that an official request was sent to "X" to demand information on how the social network handles problematic content, a preliminary step to launching an official investigation.
The EU has issued an official warning to technology companies of legal sanctions if they do not delete any content supportive of the "Hamas" movement from social media platforms.
Pro-Palestinian content and content supportive of Palestine have faced widespread deletion and removal from social media networks, citing that it violates community guidelines.
