Elon Musk split up from his girlfriend Grimes after three years of dating and a baby together, reports said on Friday.
The SpaceX founder, 50, said they are “semi-separated” but they remain on “great terms”.
Musk added that he and Grimes, who are parents to 1-year-old son X Æ A-Xii, "see each other frequently and are on great terms."
“We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms," Musk told Page Six. “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”
The couple were first romantically linked in 2018 and welcomed their son into the world in May last year
According to Grimes, Musk had a romantic dalliance with Amber Heard but their relationship ended in heartbreak.
In 2017, the Tesla CEO told Rolling Stone: “I just broke up with my girlfriend. I was really in love, and it hurt bad.”
“I’ve been in severe emotional pain for the last few weeks,” he noted.
“Severe. It took every ounce of will to be able to do the Model 3 event and not look like the most depressed guy around. For most of that day, I was morbid," he explained.
"And then I had to psych myself up: drink a couple of Red Bulls, hang out with positive people and then, like, tell myself: ‘I have all these people depending on me. Alright, do it!’”
The 50-year-old businessman also shares his first five sons - Griffin, Xavier, Damian, Saxon and Kai - with his first ex-wife Justine Wilson.
