The number of employees within Twitter was recently reported that has decreased by nearly 80% since it was acquired by billionaire Elon Musk last year.
As of late October 2022, Twitter had approximately 7,500 employees, but this number has declined to about 1,300 active employees, according to CNBC on Friday.
The report added that Twitter currently has fewer than 550 full-time engineers, and fewer than 20 employees working in the full-time trust and safety team.
It pointed out that the company also has about 1,400 non-working employees, who are still receiving their salaries, in addition to that about 75 of the company's 1,300 employees are on leave, including 40 engineers.
Elon Mike transformed Twitter's day-to-day operations, including laying off executives who were responsible for the platform's privacy, cybersecurity, and censorship.
Musk also authorized the appointment of about 130 people from his other companies to work on Twitter, including Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company, according to the CNBC report.
In December 2022, the American New York Times stated that Twitter had stopped paying rent for office space for several weeks, in order to reduce its costs.
