Forbes magazine reported Monday that a surge in Tesla shares has pushed Elon Musk's net worth to $200 billion to become the world's richest person, surpassing Amazon's Jeff Bezos.
Musk became the third person to have a fortune of $200 billion.
Shares of his e-vehicle company Tesla continued their four-month rally, closing 2.2% higher at $791.36, their highest level since February 2021.
Tesla ended on Monday with a market cap of more than $792 billion, and SpaceX, accounted to $74 billion after a funding round earlier this year.
Last year, Musk promised that he would give away nearly all of his residential units, including six mansions.
