Lebanese news outlets reported that Lebanese recording artist Elissa has canceled an upcoming concert in Iraq over concerns about coronavirus.
The concert was set to take place at the Social Academic Center, in galaxy hall, Erbil, Iraq, on the occasion of Nowruz, on March 20.
The Iraq Health Ministry announced on February 29 that the country has detected five new cases of coronavirus, four in Baghdad and one in Babel province, taking the total number of discovered cases to 13.
Meanwhile, Elissa is putting the final touches on her new album, which is set to be released during Eid al-Fitr holidays.
This album will be the last in her career, as the Lebanese artist announced on August 19, 2019, that she will be quitting the music industry.
“I am preparing this new album with a lot of love and passion. The reason is that it will be the last one in my career. I am announcing this with a heavy heart but with a lot of conviction because I can’t work in a field that is similar to mafias. I can’t be productive anymore,” she tweeted on Twitter.
In the new album, she cooperates with a large number of poets and composers she previously worked with, including Amir Teima, Nader Abdallah, and Walid Said.
The 46-year-old artist’s latest album is “Ila Kol Elli Bihebbouni” (To All the Ones Who Love me), which was released by Rotana production، on July 24, 2018.
It also topped Twitter’s most trending list in Jordan and the UAE, as twitter users hashtags “#Elissa_Album_2018”, and flooded the social network with parts of the album songs.
The Lebanese artist had recorded the songs in Egyptian and Lebanese dialects, including singer-actress Warda Al-Jazairia’s song “Wahashtony”.
She cooperated with a large number of poets and composers including Amir Teima, Ramy Gamal, Nader Abdallah, and Walid Said, which includes 16 songs.
