Electricity Minister Hails El-Dabaa Nuclear Containment Structure Installation as a “Historic Moment”

Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy described the installation of the containment structure for the first reactor unit at the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant as a historic milestone in the country’s peaceful nuclear programme.

He stated that the El-Dabaa plant represents the largest energy project of its kind in the world, highlighting its scale, advanced technology and long-term strategic importance for Egypt’s energy future. According to the minister, the progress achieved at the site reflects years of planning, engineering and international cooperation.

He said the developments witnessed today at El-Dabaa stand as clear evidence of the close partnership between Egypt and Russia, noting that the joint work between the two sides has been fundamental to the project’s success. The minister emphasised that the plant will strengthen Egypt’s electricity grid, expand its energy mix and support the country’s economic and industrial growth.

The completion of major structural components marks another significant step in the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power station, positioning the country among regional leaders in peaceful nuclear technology and long-term energy security.
