Sources at the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that there is a drop in the initiation of electricity at the governorate level, recording a decrease of about 4 thousand megawatts during the past days with the application of the curfew to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

The sources added that the decline has increased with the start of the application of the curfew including the closure of shops, cafes and commercial malls, as the maximum consumption rates "Peak Load" ranges between 19-20 thousand megawatts per day and about 12-13 thousand megawatts within hours of the night.

During the past two months, the daily consumption rates ranged between 23-24 thousand MW per day, while the minimum consumption "Min. Load" ranged between 15-16 thousand MW.

Meantime, the electrical loads at the level of the Republic are witnessing a state of stability on the national grid, in conjunction with the generation of electricity without interruption in various governorates, and the regularity of fuel supplies required for the generation stations, whether from natural gas or diesel.

It is worth mentioning that the green color of electricity load indicator means that the condition is safe, while the orange color indicates a warning mode stating that the consumption of the network is increasing, and calls for rationalization of consumption, and the red color indicates that there is an urgent need to rationalize consumption.
