Egypt to Be Logistics Hub for Global Trade Flow by 2024

Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir indicated on Tuesday that Egypt would be a global logistics hub that serves the international trade flow and attracts investments by 2024, emphasizing that the maritime transport sector can play a vital role in boosting the national economy.

"We have adopted a comprehensive plan aimed at achieving integration among Egyptian harbors, developing infrastructure of Egyptian ports in accordance with the highest international standards, linking harbors to investment zones, and rehabilitating human cadres," the El Wazir said.

"This plan of developing Egyptian harbors will also turn the country into a global hub for trade and logistics," El Wazir added.

Also in this regard, El Wazir explained: "Recently, our ports and transportation facilities have been modernized. Moreover, the railway has become one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, transporting many passengers and over 180 million tonnes of freight annually."

The minister made the remarks during a telephone interview with the renowned TV program (Al Masoulity) on Sada Elbalad channel.
