President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received a phone call today from Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

According to the Egyptian presidency’s spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy, Prime Minister Sharif extended his congratulations to Egypt, wishing continued progress and prosperity, sentiments that were warmly welcomed by President El-Sisi.

El-Sisi also conveyed his greetings to the government and people of Pakistan, expressing hopes for continued blessings and prosperity for both nations and the wider Islamic world.

The call highlighted the steady progress in relations between Egypt and Pakistan, with El-Sisi emphasizing the importance of further enhancing cooperation across key sectors, including transport, trade, and investment.

On his part, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its historic ties with Egypt, particularly in economic and investment fields, while also exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Middle East and South Asia. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts to promote stability in the Middle East and contain escalating tensions, warning of the negative impact of instability on regional economies, including rising costs of goods and transportation.

He reiterated Egypt’s firm stance in support of the stability of Arab nations and its rejection of any violations of their sovereignty or threats to their security.

Both sides agreed on the importance of intensifying joint efforts to contain regional escalation and restore stability, while the Pakistani prime minister briefed El-Sisi on recent developments in South Asia.
