Tarek El-Molla, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum held a session of discussions with his Yemeni counterpart Saeed Suleiman Al-Shammasi on the sidelines of participation in the 12th Arab Energy Conference in Qatar, which is organized by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).
During the meeting, El-Molla stressed support for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of the oil, gas and mining industry within the framework of the agreement signed between the two countries.
The meeting discussed the contribution to developing petroleum agreements in Yemen as one of the important areas required by the oil and gas industry there, and the strong desire for the presence of Egyptian companies working in the projects and services in Yemen.
It also reviewed Yemen's plan to make use of its strategic location in storing crude and petroleum products, establishing refineries, and benefiting from Egypt's expertise in the fields of natural gas, especially compressed one, in addition to cooperation in the field of exploiting mining wealth.
On the other hand, the minister met with Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). The meeting discussed the organization’s participation in the “COP28” climate summit in the Emirates, and the topics covered by the summit; which among them is the need for supplies provided by the petroleum and natural gas industry, and its efforts to accelerate the pace of energy transition and decarbonization projects and reduce emissions.
