El Kabbag: Egyptian Women are Nation's Future

The Social Solidarity Minister Nivine El Kabbag greeted all Egyptian women on Egyptian Women's Day.

El-Kabbag reviewed a report on the services provided by the Ministry of Social Solidarity to Egyptian women. The most important of which were:

Firstly: Social protection for women:

1. Cash support: There are about 2,044,072 women receiving cash support "Takaful and Karma" at 78.5%, at a monthly cost of LE 546,976 million, with a monthly assistance value of LE480.

Secondly: Economic empowerment of women

1. Micro-projects for women:

The economic empowerment of women included the provision of 113,000 projects totaling LE620 million. This funding ranges from LE 5000 to LE 20,000, and financing is in cash or the transfer of productive assets.

  • "Mastoura"
  • Funding programs for women were presented through Nasser Social Bank, in addition to using all available resources to support the financial inclusion initiative, with the aim of transforming women from recipients of support into an active component and productive energy.

    The "Mastoura" program provides loans to women. Where the loan is granted with a minimum of 4000 pounds and a maximum of 20 thousand pounds without interest and administrative expenses 7% deducted once and is paid in monthly installments with a maximum of 24 months.

    An amount of 320 million pounds has been disbursed to more than 19,000 beneficiaries, in addition to allocating 3000 loans for women with special needs to integrate them into economic life.

    3. Women Service Centers to encourage them to participate in the labor market. The Ministry provides services for them through 41 centers in 22 governorates.

    Thirdly: Social welfare for women

    1. The Ministry is fully aware of the importance of girls' education and has committed families to send their daughters to education as a prerequisite for monetary support.

  • Caring for elderly women: The Ministry owns 172 elderly homes, 50 of which are for elderly women only, and 80 co-houses for men and women.
  • Women with Disabilities: The Ministry provides a variety of services for women with disabilities, including rehabilitation, physical therapy, day and night hosting, and speech training. Scholarships for blind female students are also offered.
  • Fourth: Protecting women from violence

    The Ministry provides services to protect women subjected to violence, and the Ministry is committed to protecting women from all forms of violence, whether it is psychological, physical or economic exploitation.

    The Ministry supervises 8 centers for hosting women at risk and those at risk of violence, in order to protect them from all the risks that women can face.

    "2 Kefya" Program to contribute to family planning:

    The project aims to reduce overpopulation, enhance the concept of a small family and correct misconceptions in society that drive families to have more children.

    The "Mawda" project aims to preserve the Egyptian family by targeting the 18-25 age group to raise awareness of young on the basis of dealing with spouses and achieving good communication, which helps in solving many problems.

    "Awareness"

    It is a new program launched by the Ministry that works to form positive awareness towards 12 societal issues, including women, education, knowledge and literacy issues, maternal and child health, positive parenting education, early detection of disability, illegal immigration, population increase, drug control, citizenship and respect for religious persity Cultural, female circumcision, child marriage, hygiene, and public health.
