Chancellor Hanafy El Gebali, the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, became the first Egyptian senior official to visit Syria since 2011.
El Gebali arrived in Damascus, on Sunday to participate in the conference of the Arab parliament.
The Arab Parliament decided in its 34th conference in Baghdad, Iraq to form a delegation to visit Syria after the devastating earthquake that left behind more than 50,000 victims in Syria and Turkey.
El Gebali said: "We are in dear Syria to support it and be in solidarity with the Syrian people."
He added: "I want to tell the Syrian people that we all are brothers, and we support each other in such hard times."
