Major General Ihab El-Far, head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, stressed that Egypt’s Future Project for Agricultural Production is one of the giant national projects.
“This project is gigantic and includes the modification of canal paths and the construction of new canals,” El-Far said in a speech during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s inauguration of the Egypt’s Future Project for Agricultural Production, today, Saturday.
El Far noted that the entire water path in the project is about 170 km, including 148 km of open canals, in addition to 22.5 km of special pipes for the existing agricultural lands, which are famous for beet cultivation.
He pointed out that the volume of industrial work is estimated at about 13 lifting stations and about 91 industrial works, adding, “All of these works we started last August, and we achieved high implementation rates, estimated at about 46%.”
He also mentioned that the entire lifting stations will be completed next September, while the implementation rate in the canals in the western sector is about 98 percent. As for the eastern sector, there are some delays due to waiting for compensation to the people, pointing out that the financial cost of land compensation almost reached LE 2.5 billion.
