EJB Hails Egyptian Government, AFDB`s Efforts in Intra-African Trade

The Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) organised an Official Business Dinner at Marriott Zamalek on Monday Sept. 16th promoting communication and synergised business efforts between the African Development Bank and Egyptian businessmen.

The event was attended by Wale Shonibare, African Development Bank (AFDB) Acting Vice President for Power, Energy, Climate Change, and Green Growth.

It kicked off with a welcome speech from Sherif El-Gabaly, EJB Chairman, in which he praised AFDB efforts in pushing forward sustainable development goals and coordination for the achievement of economic and social empowerment in African countries.

Addressing the invitees, his excellency Wale Shonibare emphasised his appreciation of EJB’s invitation and the efforts of the Egyptian government in promoting intra-African trade and development across business sectors as well as health and other areas.

The word by Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform Hala El Said frames the visit as an opportunity to maximise on the efforts of AFDB and the Egyptian government in advancing cooperation between Egypt and African countries, intra-African trade and administrative reform with a view to accelerate Egypt’s 2030 vision and in line with long term sustainable development goals.

The event brought together a large number of distinguished guests from international organisations including UNDP, WFP, EU, KFW, IMF and representatives of foreign embassies in Egypt including Canada, India, Brazil, Niger, in addition to a number of companies, most notably Al-Kharafi Group, Eni, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, X Pay, Sabbour Consulting and EJB members from various industry sectors.

The African Development Bank Group (AFDB) is a regional multilateral development finance institution established to contribute to the economic development and social progress of African member countries. Founded in 1963, with headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, AfDB comprises three entities: the African Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Nigeria Trust Fund (NTF).

As the premier development finance institution on the continent, the AfDB’s mission is to help reduce poverty, improve living conditions for Africans and mobilize resources for the continent’s economic and social development.
