The UK Health Security Agency has already identified 13 cases in England, with all patients and their associated contacts being isolated. In Scotland, nine have already been discovered. The latest cases in England brought the overall number of cases in the United Kingdom to 22.

The East Midlands, the East of England, London, and the North West have all confirmed cases.

Inpiduals who have tested positive, as well as their connections, are being isolated, according to officials. According to the UKHSA, work is underway to identify any ties to travel to southern Africa.

There are now two cases in Barnet, one in Brentwood, two in Camden, one in Haringey, one in Liverpool, one in north Norfolk, one in Nottingham, one in Sutton, one in Wandsworth, and two in Westminster, according to the report.

"We are continuing our work to understand the influence of this mutation on transmissibility, severe disease, mortality, antibody response, and vaccination efficacy," said Dr Jenny Harries, UKHSA's chief executive.

"Vaccination is essential in helping us strengthen our defences against this new variation; please obtain your first, second, third, or booster shot as soon as possible."

"Following a change in JCVI recommendations yesterday, a booster dosage is now suggested for everyone over 18 years at least three months after your last primary course jab," she added.

"As soon as you are invited, please accept this offer to defend yourself, your families, and your communities."
