Angelina Eichhorst, the European Union’s Ambassador to Egypt reaffirmed the depth and strength of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, highlighting strong interest among EU member states in investing in the Egyptian market.

Her remarks came during a visit on Friday to the Damietta Chamber of Commerce, where she was received by Chamber Chairman Mohamed Fayed, alongside representatives of commercial divisions, industrial leaders, and business figures.

Discussions during the visit focused on investment opportunities and the industrial capabilities of Damietta, as well as avenues for joint cooperation to support small and medium-sized enterprises and open new export markets for locally manufactured products.

Eichhorst stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in vocational training, workforce development, and youth empowerment, praising Damietta’s longstanding industrial expertise, particularly in the furniture sector. She also underscored the EU’s commitment to supporting programs aimed at upgrading industrial production, improving labor efficiency, and expanding opportunities for economic and developmental cooperation.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of advancing technical education, enhancing workforce skills, and encouraging industrial innovation to improve the competitiveness and quality of Damietta-made products amid growing mutual interest in sustainable economic development and investment cooperation.

During her official visit, Eichhorst also emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as green economy initiatives and the “Ro-Ro Line,” referring to the maritime transport corridor designed to facilitate trade flows. She praised what she witnessed during her field visit to Port of Damietta, particularly the Ro-Ro shipping line, describing it as a key mechanism for boosting bilateral trade movement.

She further reiterated the European Union’s commitment to supporting Egypt in green technology and sustainable economy projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable development. Eichhorst also expressed pride in the advanced level of cooperation between Egypt and Europe in the export of Egyptian fruits and agricultural products to European markets.

On his part, Mohamed Fayed said the ambassador’s visit represents an important step toward strengthening international cooperation and supporting local industry, noting that Damietta possesses significant industrial expertise and competitive capabilities that position it strongly in global markets.

Fayed also invited Eichhorst and the accompanying delegation to visit the “Damietta Discount Exhibition” in Nasr City, which showcases a selection of premium Damietta furniture products.

He additionally called for discussions on facilitating visa procedures for traders through cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, while emphasizing the importance of dual education systems that combine academic learning with practical industrial training inside factories and workshops to better prepare skilled labor for the market.
