The Egyptian Tourism Ministry on Tuesday won for the first time the International Travel & Tourism Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry during the 2019 World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
The award comes in appreciation for the ministry's tremendous efforts over the past 24 months to promote the tourism industry in the Middle East region.
Tourism Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat received the prize in the presence of 500 senior figures working in the field of travel.
Al-Mashat expressed her happiness for receiving the award, saying: "It reflects the continued success of the Egypt-Tourism Reform Program (E-TRP) and is considered as a crown for the ministry's efforts locally and globally.

It is worth mentioning that the ministry was nominated by TTN Middle East magazine.
Al-Mashat pointed out that the successive developments in the global travel industry press the states to modernize their mechanisms and requalify their sectors to keep pace with these changes.
"It is important to look to the tourism sector from an economic perspective and this is adopted by the Egyptian political leadership currently," the minister stressed, adding the sector contributes by 15% of the national GDP.
Meantime, Publishing Director at TTN Middle East Kim Thomson expressed his delight of the Egyptian ministry's winning of the award, saying that the ministry was selected as a leader in this important industry in the Middle East region.
Rashi Sen, a TTN editor, said that the Egyptian ministry deserved the winning, adding that E-TRP had a great impact on this vital sector as the tourism revenues in Egypt recorded its highest level ever in the history this year.
TTN is the leading monthly trade publication distributed to travel and tourism industry professionals across the Middle East.
