Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif tested positive for COVID-19, agent of the player Sherif Moncef confirmed the news on Friday.
"Mayar and the team are currently on a quick visit to Egypt. Upon her arrival, she suffered from physical fatigue," Moncef stated, affirming that "all the necessary checks had been made and the test was positive."
Moreover, he noted that the team is currently working on amending the training schedules, tournaments and engagements of the Egyptian champion, who was scheduled to participate in a tournament in Portugal this month.
The Egyptian tennis star had written the history, becoming the first Egyptian woman to secure a win in the Australian Open, which is considered on the biggest tournaments in tennis across the world.
