The Egyptian presidency has issued a statement on Tuesday, mourning the death of late President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
“Mubarak was one of glorious October war heroes, as he served as air forces commander during this war which restored the Arab nation’s dignity and pride,” the statement read.
Moreover, the presidency expressed its deep sorrow and sincere condolences to Mubarak's family.
It is worth mentioning that, the former president passed away earlier today Tuesday at the age of 91, after a long battle with the disease, according to state-owned TV.
Two days ago, Alaa, the eldest son of Egypt’s former president tweeted that his father is in intensive care after suffering critical health problems, wishing a speedy recovery for him.
On January 24th, he said that the late president has undergone a critical surgery, pointing out that his health condition was stable.
Mubarak was born on May 4th, 1928 and he stayed in power for three decades ended by the popular uprising of January 25th, 2011.
He was last seen publicly on December 26, 2018, when he testified at the trial of his ousted successor, Mohammed Morsi, and others.
