PM Mostafa Madbouly revealed that the increased period of power outages yesterday was due to one of the gas fields located in neighboring countries experienced a technical malfunction.
This field, which supplies Egypt with gas through the regional network, was out of service for more than 12 hours, which led to a complete halt of gas flow.
During his speech at the press conference, Tuesday, the Prime Minister confirmed that he followed the matter over the past hours until the problem was resolved and the field returned to operating at full capacity.
Today, Madbouly held a meeting to discuss solutions to the problem of power outages and ways to cut hours of reducing electricity loads.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government is well aware of the dimensions of the current crisis related to power outages to reduce loads, and there have been efforts during the last period to end this crisis as soon as possible.
In this context, Madbouly drew attention to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to quickly work to end the power outage crisis, by taking decisions to reduce the periods of power outages.
He added that the government is currently seeking to put in place mechanisms to ensure an end to the crisis, in coordination with the relevant ministries and agencies, including importing gas and Mazut worth $1.7 billion to solve the crises by the end of 2024.
