Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held talks with Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on the sidelines of the 4th United Nations Conference on Financing for Development, currently taking place in Seville, Spain.
According to the Cabinet, Madbouly is attending the conference on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Spain, Ihab Badawi.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly highlighted the longstanding and historic ties between Egypt and Nepal, recalling that Egypt was the first African country to recognize Nepal.
Madbouly expressed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and proposed convening the joint committee between the two nations to explore ways to deepen cooperation. He also suggested organizing a business forum to foster greater collaboration between the private sectors of Egypt and Nepal.
The Egyptian Prime Minister noted that the two countries share similar views on various regional and international issues. He stressed the importance of boosting economic ties to match the robust political relations between Cairo and Kathmandu.
He further expressed hope for closer cooperation in the field of education, noting that several Nepalese students are currently studying at Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
The Premier also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Oli to visit Egypt to continue discussions on enhancing bilateral relations.
In turn, Prime Minister Oli praised the strong and friendly relations between Nepal and Egypt, acknowledging Egypt’s historic support for Nepal. He noted that Egypt was the first African country where Nepal established an embassy.
Prime Minister Oli also expressed interest in attending the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum once a new opening date is set, and voiced his desire to expand cooperation between Egypt and Nepal across various sectors.
The meeting underscored mutual commitment to deepening collaboration and exploring new avenues for partnership between the two countries.
