Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, chaired the first meeting of the High Committee for the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026) on Sunday, held via video conference.

The meeting brought together Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, alongside senior officials from the petroleum sector, representatives of international oil and energy companies, and global energy organizations to discuss preparations for the upcoming ninth edition of the event.

EGYPES 2026 is set to take place from March 30 to April 1, 2026, under the theme “Energy Transition Through Collaboration, Implementation, and Realism.”

Minister Badawi expressed his gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his continuous support of the conference, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with international investors and expanding energy cooperation. He also extended appreciation to Egypt’s global partners for their sustained investments and contributions to boosting local oil and gas production.

The minister noted that the upcoming edition will feature in-depth discussions across petroleum, natural gas, electricity, renewable energy, environment, finance, and green energy, highlighting technological innovation and regional collaboration to accelerate progress toward a sustainable energy future.

Representatives of global energy companies reaffirmed Egypt’s strategic position as a regional energy hub and a gateway to Africa, underscoring the importance of leveraging existing infrastructure to advance regional energy integration across the Eastern Mediterranean and the African continent.

Organizers expect over 50,000 visitors, 500 exhibiting companies, 2,200 delegates, 350 speakers, 50 local and international energy firms, 15 national pavilions, and more than 100 high-level sessions.

The conference agenda will address global energy market trends, the future of natural gas and LNG, electricity and power generation, offshore and marine projects, and emerging energy markets in Africa. It will also cover leadership, renewable energy, hydrogen, distribution, marketing, and energy financing and investment.

On the sidelines of the preparations, Minister Badawi met with Saudi Ambassador Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini, Cypriot Ambassador Poly Ioannou, and Greek Ambassador Nikolaos Papageorgiou to discuss international participation and coordination ahead of the event.

During the meetings, the minister reaffirmed Egypt’s long-standing strategic ties with its regional partners and its commitment to expanding joint energy initiatives, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean’s gas and infrastructure sectors.

Al-Husseini praised the deep-rooted Saudi-Egyptian relations and the strategic alignment among Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece in developing Eastern Mediterranean gas resources.

Cypriot Ambassador Ioannou noted that several Cypriot companies have expressed interest in participating in EGYPES 2026 and exploring investment opportunities in Egypt’s energy sector, while Ambassador Papageorgiou highlighted the show’s status as a major global platform uniting energy stakeholders from around the world.
