Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed on Saturday the arrival of the ENERGOS FORCE floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at the Port of Aqaba in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The move marks a key step toward connecting the facility to the Arab Gas Pipeline and commencing operations to regasify liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments in line with network demand and operational requirements.
The development underscores the deep and ongoing energy cooperation between Egypt and Jordan, reflecting broader regional integration and mutual use of existing infrastructure to maximize benefits on both sides.
According to the ministry, the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) finalized the contract for the ENERGOS FORCE as part of an integrated strategy to secure gas supplies for the domestic market and key sectors, most notably electricity generation and industry, particularly during peak demand periods. The agreement also aims to diversify feedstock into Egypt’s national gas grid and ensure rapid response capabilities to any emergencies or operational changes.
The ministry stressed its commitment to continuously upgrading Egypt’s gas infrastructure while bolstering Arab energy cooperation, with the dual goals of enhancing national energy security and meeting the needs of citizens and vital economic sectors.
