During the “Fatwa Lab” symposium in Singapore, Egypt’s Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, stressed that contemporary fatwa discourse faces major challenges requiring deep awareness of reality and strict adherence to sound methodology.

In his speech, Dr. Ayyad praised Singapore as an inspiring model of religious coexistence and social harmony. Highlighting the General Secretariat’s comprehensive vision for developing fatwa work through training programs and research centers, he warned against the chaos caused by unqualified individuals issuing fatwas, especially in digital spaces.

He emphasized the need to restore trust in official religious institutions and affirmed that the “Fatwa Lab” represents a significant step toward building a balanced, moderate discourse that combines authenticity with modern relevance and promotes global peace and understanding.
