Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, received Dr. Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in promoting religious pluralism, peaceful coexistence, and combating Islamophobia.
The Grand Mufti highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan and commended the Center’s efforts in advancing interfaith dialogue and confronting hate speech and extremism.
He also outlined the work of Dar al-Ifta’s specialized centers—including the Salam Center for Extremism Studies, the Imam Al-Layth Center for Coexistence Jurisprudence, and the Dialogue Center—which focus on countering radical ideologies and presenting an accurate and balanced image of Islam.
From his part, Dr. Hasanov expressed his appreciation for Dar al-Ifta’s leadership and voiced interest in benefiting from its extensive expertise in training, research, and joint humanitarian initiatives. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to building strategic partnerships that enhance global understanding, foster scholarly exchange, and support a moderate Islamic discourse on the international stage.
