Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israel’s National Security Minister, describing it as a flagrant violation of international, humanitarian, and religious norms, and a provocation to millions of Muslims worldwide.

Dr. Ayyad stressed, in a news statement, that the repeated incursions into the mosque—Islam’s first qibla and third holiest site—constitute a dangerous escalation that could further destabilize the region. Reaffirming that Al-Aqsa, in its entirety, is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims, he rejected any attempts to alter its historical and legal status quo, including plans to divide or Judaize the site.

The Grand Mufti also called on the international community and relevant organizations to take urgent action to halt such violations, emphasizing that these actions will not undermine the established rights of Muslims to freely practice their religious rites at the mosque.
