At the special session of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in Astana, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, underscored that safeguarding religious sites is a sacred duty and a shared human responsibility.
H.E. Dr. Ayyad warned that wars, ignorance, and extremism remain the gravest threats to humanity’s heritage and condemned Zionist attacks on holy sites in Palestine and Gaza as flagrant violations of international law and justice.
Highlighting Egypt’s efforts under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as an inspiring model in protecting cultural and religious heritage, the Grand Mufti called for stronger interfaith dialogue, international cooperation, and the enforcement of global laws to preserve sacred sites for future generations.
