Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Al-Assar has passed away on Monday. Al-Assar died at the age of 74. He was born on June 3, 1946.

A few minutes after his death, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi mourned Al-Assar.
"Our dear Egypt lost today a statesman of a unique style and great national value, Lieutenant-general Mohamed Al-Assar, Minister of State for Military Production, who passed away today," Sisi posted on his social media accounts.
He was an engineer turned military officer and headed the armament authority of the defense ministry until retirement in 2003. Due to his relationship with the then-minister of defense Hussein Tantawi, Al-Assar was brought from retirement to be a minister’s assistant in 2011 and kept his position under three presidents.
The late General given his experience in the armament field, was in charge, after the ouster of the Brotherhood in July 2013, of holding talks with Russia over strengthening relations in military cooperation after the postponement of US military aid.
He was the 13th Minister of Military Production. He took up office in 2015.
