Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif, ranked 164 globally, was crowned Sunday Charleston US Open Tennis Tournament champion after defeating Polish Katarzyna Kawa in the singles-final match of the tournament.
Sherif won the final match with two clean sets of (6-2) and (6-3).
She settled the first group easily in her favor with a stunning performance, scoring (6-2), while the second group witnessed a (3-3) tie for a while. At last, she advanced to end the group with a score of (6-3), thus winning the match and the whole tournament.
It is worth mentioning that Sherif and Australian Astra Sharma won 2nd place in the Doubles-final of the same tournament after losing to the Polish duo Katarzyna Kawa and her teammate Magdalena Fręch by two sets to one.
The Egyptian Golden girl qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, which was postponed until next year, due to the Corona virus pandemic.
