Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued Thursday a press release of primary data of manufacturing and extractive industries of production index of May.
CAPMAS has updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 and at the level of main indices of industrial activity according to Industrial Activity Manual (ISIC Rev.4) and by using the monthly index (for producer prices based on 2012/2013).
The manufacturing and extractive industries index (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) reached 105.64 during May (primary) compared to 94.29 during April (final) increase by 12.04%.

The Manufacture of beverages reached 330.17 during May compared to April, reaching 280.67, an increase by 17.64% due to the increase in demand with the advent of the summer season.
The Manufacture of food products reached129.18 during May compared to April, reaching 125.43, an increase by 2.99% due to market needs.
A decrease in the level of the following economic activities:
Manufacture of basic metals reached 57.21 during May, compared to April, reaching 58.25 decreased by 1.79% due to the lack of raw materials due to market needs.
Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products reached 74.07 during May compared to April reaching 75.30 decrease by 1.63% due to market needs.
