Yasmine Moussa, Egypt’s representative before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), affirmed that Egypt is actively coordinating with the Palestinian side, Arab states, and the United Nations in a joint effort to support the Palestinian cause through legal and diplomatic channels.
Speaking via Zoom during an interview on "Extra News" , Dr. Moussa emphasized that this collective approach is being coordinated at every stage. “Our efforts are not unilateral. They involve close cooperation with our Arab partners and international bodies,” she said.
She noted that Egypt is now in the second phase of legal action, which includes seeking an advisory opinion from the ICJ—a critical step in the international legal process. “We began this path with an initial advisory opinion issued by the Court in July 2024, which strongly supported the Palestinian and Arab legal perspective,” Dr. Moussa stated.
Highlighting the continued Israeli occupation, Dr. Moussa pointed out that the UN General Assembly has consistently renewed the mandate of UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. “Each time this mandate is extended, the UN General Assembly reaffirms that it is granted without prejudice to the Palestinian refugees’ right of return—a right that is deeply linked to the principle of self-determination,” she added.
