The Egyptian Hotels Association, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, started the sterilization of hotels and resorts all over the country under the supervision of the Health Ministry due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Maged Fawzi, the head of Egypt Hotels Association, said that the association has started the sterilization campaign of hotels in Hurghada governorate as a first phase, and then it will start next week in hotels in Luxor governorate as a second phase.
Fawzi noted: "The hotels use sterilization materials approved by the Health Ministry, adding: "The process is carried out by efficient and trained teams according to international standards. They are sterilizing, every 3 hours, all surfaces in contact with tourists, guests and hotel visitors, such as public areas, corridors, guest rooms, elevators, stairs, doors, and handle rails.

"The German company TUV-Nord is now examining and inspecting hotels to ensure that the sterilization procedures are carried out according to international standards," he stated.
He underlined that the Preverisk company, which will start its work on Friday in Luxor, would ensure that the sanitization steps in Hotels are efficient.

It will also develop complete procedures and checklists for sanitization in hotels and take swab tests from selected areas in hotels (guest rooms, public areas, restaurants & bars, recreational facilities) as well as train employees through Viral Infection Simulation in hotels.
"Programs to raise the awareness of hotel employees to protect themselves from the virus would be also provided," he added.
