Egypt’s Higher Education Ministry Hosts Seminar on Digital Violence, Cyber Threats

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the importance of human resource development and community service, praising the ministry’s efforts in supporting Egyptian women and combating violence against them.

He noted that these efforts align with Egypt’s Women Empowerment Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals (Egypt Vision 2030).

In this context, the Equal Opportunity Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education organized a cultural seminar titled "Digital Violence and Cyber Threats: Prevention and Solutions", in collaboration with the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University. 

The event aimed to enhance women's skills and raise societal awareness.

Dr. Amr Allam, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Assistant Minister for Institutional Development, highlighted the importance of the seminar in raising awareness among ministry employees on social and cultural issues.

He also stressed the role of Anti-Violence Units and the Equal Opportunity Committee in promoting respect for women’s rights and reducing violence.

Hala El-Amin, Head of the Equal Opportunity Committee, explained that the seminar topic was chosen in response to the increasing use of technology across all age groups, necessitating awareness of the risks associated with digital violence and ways to prevent it.

During the seminar, Dr. Hend El-Helaly, Professor of Forensic Medicine and Director of the Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University, reviewed the university’s initiatives in supporting women. She presented the unit’s campaign titled "It’s Not Normal… Digital Violence", outlining its objectives.

Dr. Sohair Safwat, Professor of Sociology at Ain Shams University and Consultant for the Anti-Violence Unit, discussed different forms and methods of digital violence, emphasizing the importance of providing psychological support to victims.

Engineer Ahmed Mostafa, Cybersecurity Expert and Member of the National Media Authority, elaborated on various cyber threats and protection methods, providing guidance on steps to take when facing digital violence.
