Egypt’s Grand Mufti Nazir Mohammed Ayyad met with Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs Pshtiwan Sadiq Abdullah to discuss expanding cooperation in religious guidance, mufti training and efforts to counter extremist ideologies.
During the meeting in Cairo, Ayyad highlighted the longstanding ties between Egypt and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and outlined the work of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta in developing institutional fatwa services through specialized training centers, digital platforms and international partnerships.
The Grand Mufti also presented several initiatives aimed at combating extremism, including AI-powered projects, the Hedayah online platform and the FatwaPro application. He reaffirmed Dar al-Ifta’s readiness to provide training programs for muftis from the Kurdistan Region.
For his part, Abdullah praised Dar al-Ifta’s role in promoting moderation and religious awareness, expressing interest in deeper cooperation through joint research, academic conferences and the exchange of expertise on contemporary religious issues and combating extremism.
