Egypt’s Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his election as the new head of the Vatican and spiritual leader of the Catholic Church.
The Grand Mufti expressed hope that the new papacy will build on Pope Francis’s legacy by further promoting dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among followers of different faiths and cultures.
Dr. Ayad also affirmed the commitment of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and the General Secretariat to continued collaboration with the Vatican in advancing shared humanitarian values and combating all forms of extremism and hatred.
